11th Anniversary

Today Gill and I celebrated our 11th Anniversary. We've decided to go on a new adventure every year to mark the occasion.  We started off the new tradition with a day at the National Whitewater Center.
We geared up in harnesses, carabiners and helmets and headed to the Climb, Zip and Adventure courses.
That's right, we climbed up and manuvered through the posts, ropes and cables, 30 feet in the air.  It was challenging and pushed us both to our limit, but it was totally exhilarating and we were psyched that we finished it!
After the adventure course we climbed up a cargo net to a double zip line where Gill and I could zip down next to each other.  As we zipped, the staff cheered for us and yelled "happy anniversary" so much fun!
We headed over to the Ridge Trail, which was challenging, but a lot more fun since we had already conquered the adventure course.
We went on a couple more trails to some more zips before
having a beer by the water and lunch at the restaurant.
After lunch it was time to gear up for the MEGA Zip.  This zip line was fast and took us directly over all the white water rapids.
What a thrill!  (Especially when Gill's iphone dropped out of his pocket -
luckily a staff member was able to retrieve it with no damage!)
After the excitement of all the zipping, we opted for something a bit more peaceful and took a nice walk around the center to the Flatwater Docks for kayaking on the Catawba River.
We ended our adventurous day with rock climbing.  It was such a challenge, but we were both able to reach the top, and Gill was even able to climb again on a harder course!
It was a fantastic adventure.  There is no one in the world I would rather try new things with than my husband.  Gill is my best friend, and our marriage is the best adventure of all.

Chiquita Classic

This afternoon, Patrick and Finnegan went to the
Chiquita Classic Golf Tournament with Daddy and PopPop.

They had a great time and brought home these pictures
with the Chiquita Man and the Chiquita Race Car.
Am I the only one that notices that there are no pictures of GOLF
from this golf tournament?

Too Big Tuesday

Playing like a 5 year old can tire out any 2 year old!
Gill and I went to check on our Sleeping Sullivan because we could hear him snoring through the monitor.  We found him sound asleep like this.  Love how his hands are behind is head and his baby (Glow Worm) is posed right next to him.
Sweet Dreams Sully.

Apple Picking

Today we went up to the mountains to Sky Top Orchard to pick apples.
It was the first year that Sully could do more than eat the apples,
and he had a blast picking with his big brothers.
Even Mommy climbed a tree to pick a few!
No matter how high they can reach on their own,
Daddy's shoulders are still they best way to pick apples!
After picking 37 POUNDS of apples, we played on the playground....
and then took a hayride through the orchard.
We had a fantastic day today.
I love this tradition, it's a great way to kick off the Fall Season!

Super Friends

Yesterday, Sara brought the boys 3 sets of Superhero costumes.  Today, when Landon came, all of the boys disappeared and 4 superheroes appeared in their places!
Their super powers included Super Silliness...
Super Secrets...
Super Smiles...
and Super Mischief!

Too Big Tuesday

Patrick and Finnegan may be the ones starting soccer, but Sully made sure he wasn't left out when it was time to get the gear for the season!

Soccer Time!

Today Finnegan and Patrick had their first soccer practice and game.  That's right, the league that we joined gives them a practice and game back to back for the 5 & 6 year olds.  It's great, because Gill can participate in both and we don't have to rush around after school to get to practice.

They started with some drills...
Left, Finnegan has the ball, Right, it's Patrick's turn
Love this picture of our soccer players!
Practice making some goals
(Patrick left, Finnegan right)
Team Venezuela
The Big Guys weren't the only ones having a good time today.
Sully brought his own ball, kicked into the big net, and got twirled around by Daddy.
We were all so excited that PopPop came to see his soccer players.
I think it will be a great season!

Too Big Tuesday

This past week, Sullivan learned the hard lesson, that he is not yet big enough for Kindergarten.  I won't lie, it's been hard.  While Patrick and Finnegan start their new adventure, Sully is left asking where the "Big Guys" are. It's hard having a quiet house, it's hard seeing them go to a new school, it's hard being left with Mommy, especially when you THINK you are a five-year old.

On their first day of school, Sully and I went to Discovery Place.
He played with balls...
splashed at the water table...
built cars and ramps...
 gave me big smiles....
and then asked where the "Big Guys" were.

On their second day of kindergarten, Sully and I played on the computer, then went to Nannie and PopPop's house.  Sully had snacks with Nannie, played golf with PopPop...
and then asked where the "Big Guys" were.

This week we'll start a bunch of new activities - Art Class, Story Time and Gymboree.   I'm looking forward to having special one on one time with my "Little Man."  And maybe, just maybe, he'll be so busy having fun with me that he'll forget to ask for the "Big Guys".
