Summer Fun Week 3

This week forced me to budge from our daily routine.  Patrick and Finnegan spent the mornings at our church for Vacation Bible School.  They had an excellent week and came home every day with really positive experiences.
While they had different games and stations, including water games, legos and arts and crafts, I was most impressed about the outreach work the children did.  One day the children made over 600 sandwiches for the local homeless community and the next day they worked in the food pantry and gathered food for the Haiti Hunger Relief.  Now, that's a meaningful week at camp!

Make it Monday
This afternoon we made yummy sweet treats - blondies.  The boys changed up the recipe up by adding trail mix for a sweet and salty treat.  Not only did the boys enjoy it, but Gill did too!

Take a Trip Tuesday
While big brothers were at camp, Sully and I played a lot of board games -
and he won every game!
In the afternoon, we took a trip to Rock Hill with Nannie and Pop
to the Children's Museum.  The boys really enjoyed showing them the museum
and it was a fun way to spend the afternoon.

Wet and Wild Wednesday
Sully and I spent the morning with Drew, Evan and Rebecca
swimming in the pool, sliding down the water slide and having a picnic lunch.
I hate that I don't have any pictures from the afternoon, but we went to MJ and Bern's pool and swam all afternoon.  We used the gears, practiced kick-boarding and got PopPop very VERY wet!

Think About It Thursday
Sully and I spent the morning with Melissa, Athena and Sebastian at the sprayground.  While it was overcast and not the best weather, the threesome was not discouraged. They played in the water, snacked and played some more until their lips were blue!
In the afternoon, we went to the library.  Patrick and Finn participated in the elementary school program with Professor Whizzpop where he magically explored reading and made the kids really enthused.
While the big guys were at the show, Sully (aka Robin) and I read all the Curious George books that the library had.

Fun with Friends Friday
VBS Week ended with a special performance for the families.
The kids shared all the songs that they learned during the week.
We were all there to cheer on the big guys
In the afternoon, we met up with Patrick and Finn's friend from Kindergarten, Maisie.
Their sweet friend invited them for ice cream, because she wasn't able to make their birthday party.
We ended the week with a picnic dinner and swimming at the pool.

6th Birthday Party

Today was Patrick and Finnegan's 6th Birthday Party.
The boys chose the theme (Star Wars) and the location (Space Kidets again).
No monogrammed shirts this year, instead, Patrick wore a red Star Wars Lego shirt featuring Darth Vadar and Finn wore a brown Star Wars Angry Birds shirts.  My, how they are growing!
Bouncing in the Star Wars Bounce House!

Sully celebrating with Nannie and PopPop
The entire crew of friends!
Before we knew it, bouncing was over and it was time for cake.
Darth Vadar Cake and Light Saber Cupcakes were the sweet treat.

I love this picture of Finn and Patrick blowing out their candles.
Make a wish, boys!
Attacking Darth Vadar with a serving knife
After cake was over, it was time to hit the arcade!
Patrick and Finn had such a great time with all their friends!
Each guest left with a Star Wars bank filled with candy.
What a great 6th Birthday Celebration!

Summer Fun Week 2

Make It Monday
We spent the morning with our dinosaurs today.  The boys and I made dino fossils using our toy dinosaurs and then the boys made pictures and stories about them.
in the afternoon, we went to Kara's pool for playtime with Bridget and Emily.
They had a huge, two story, water slide.  Sully was so brave and went up the big stairs with Bridget while I waited at the bottom.  He loved it to so much, that he went another 15 times!

Take a Trip Tuesday
What's more fun than taking three boys to the zoo?  Taking 6 boys to the zoo!  Today Meredith and I loaded our six boys into our min-van and took them to the Riverbank Zoo.
Only a pane of glass stood between my boys and the gorilla.
We hopped with the Kangaroos
Got up close to the ostrich
and fed the giraffes
The kids loved the aquarium.  Sully loved all the big fish
and Patrick and Finn were fascinated by the sharks.
Finn tried to race the penguins and was super speedy!

Wet and Wild Wednesday
This morning we played and swam with Drew and Evan.  Most of the time, we had the entire place to ourselves.  The boys loved racing down the slide on their kickboards - it makes the slide so much faster!
In the afternoon, Gill came home early and had a huge water fight with the boys.  He filled up two rubbermaids with water and armed each boy with a water squirter.  The kids had a blast and everyone was SOAKED!

Think About it Thursday
We spent the morning at Lia's house, swimming in the pool with Emma.
By the end of the swim-date, all the kids were jumping into the pool without help from the moms.
In the afternoon, we went to the Library for a special program presented by the Carolina Raptor Center.
While Sully and I made an owl and read books...
Patrick and Finnegan got to a experience an hour long presentation by a Raptor Center Specialist.  They learned all about the birds that the center help to rehabilitate.  The boys even got to see 4 birds, including a falcon and barn owl.
They left really excited about what they had learned
and asked if we can go to the Raptor Center next week for Take a Trip Tuesday.

Fun with Friends Friday
On our way to our morning with friends, we had a hiccup with a flat tire.  While we waited for Gill to come home and help, we went to the park with bikes and scooters.  Once Gill arrived, Sully became his helper and got that tire changed!
By the time the car was all squared away, it was too late for our morning outing.  So we took our picnic, put on our bathing suits and headed to the neighborhood pool.  When we first arrived we were the only ones there.  By the end of our swim, the pool was loaded with kids, and the boys had made some new neighborhood friends.
The afternoon was filled with friends!  Bridget and Emily came over with home-made Scooby Snacks. The kids cuddled on the couch and watched Scooby Doo.
After the movie and lots of playtime, the five of them made individual pizzas.
It was such a fun friday afternoon with sweet friends.
