St. Patrick Saturday

We had a green-filled day today to celebrate St. Patrick's Day!

I started off the day with the Shamrock 4-miler with Lia.  We had a great time, dressed for the occasion!  We enjoyed the beautiful weather, the bag-pipers and the Irish Band at the finish line.  It definitely got us into the St. Patrick's Day spirit!
Then, our family headed uptown to meet friends at the parade!
Donned in green (and even some green hairspray)
the boys had a lot of fun watching the parade with their friends.

Teacher Volleyball game

Tonight we went to the high school to watch our elementary school teachers compete against 3 other elementary schools, the middle school and high school teachers in the annual Volleyball tournament.

Here is our team with students before the game
Gill and Sully high on the bleachers when Sully needed a break.
While our school didn't win, we did come in 3rd!
Great job teachers, thanks for a fun night out.

Masterpiece Monday

In Finn's art class last week they studied Van Gogh
and then created their own art based on two of his most famous paintings.

Here are Finnegan's versions of Sunflowers and Starry Night.
Beautiful work, Finnegan!

Bowling with Aunt Anna

Aunt Anna flew in from California for a week-long visit with Mom and Dad.
Today, we all went bowling and then back to our house for pizza.
The kids had a great time bowling and each even got a few spares!

If I had a hat

I saw these projects outside of Patrick and Finn's classroom this week and absolutely love them!
The project was "If I had a hat like Abe Lincoln"

Patrick:
"If I had a hat like Abe Lincoln I would put an iPad in it
because I could do Dreambox inside our outside"

Finnegan:
"If I had a hat like Abe Lincoln I would carry wires,
metal and batteries so I could invent everywhere"

I think I need to get the boys some new hats!

Patrick's Karate Kicks

Patrick has been working so hard each week at Karate.
He absolutely loves it.  I was able to capture this small video of him practicing his kicks.
Great Job, Patrick!

Skating Sunday

It may have been a warm Sunday afternoon, but yesterday I bundled up Patrick and Finnegan and headed to the Pineville IceHouse.  They were invited to an ice skating party for one of their classmates and super excited about it.
Most of the kids in their class had never skated before, and since P&F had done it once a couple months back, they were experts!
Patrick clung to the wall a bit, but was so determined.   He fell, but always got right back up.  Patrick was able to do two laps around the rink by himself and was so proud!
Finnegan got very brave, very quickly.  He was all smiles and before  I knew it was showing me his "tricks"- like skating with his eyes closed while counting to 10, and twirling.
Such a fun (and cold) afternoon!
