Summer Fun Week 5

Make it Monday
We started our week of with a splash - and went swimming with Bridget and Emily.
We even managed to get in a picnic before the rain began.
In the afternoon, the boys and I went grocery shopping with their lists
and came home to make some yummy treats.
First Recipe - Double Chocolate Brownies
 chocolate was delicious and EVERYWHERE!
Then, the boys made their own giant pizza for dinner.

Take A Trip Tuesday
Our orignal trip for today was squashed by the wet wet weather.  When I asked the boys what they wanted to do, they asked to go back to the Museum of York County and especially the planetarium.
We were surprised to arrive and find a new exhibit about the Ice Age - and this big monster!
After an hour of exploring, we went to the planetarium show where the boys were able to answer lots of questions about the planets - impressing their mommy!
We then finished the rest of the museum before heading home and having dinner at the pool.

Wet and Wild Wednesday
The boys and I spent the morning swimming with Jenny, Nathan, Lia and Emma.
Sully and Emma even braved the giant slide!
When Gill got home, he and the boys made paper airplanes.
Love this picture of Finnegan and his flying plane!

Think About It Thursday
We spent the morning taking Gill to the airport so he can go to NJ and help his parents.
In the afternoon, Patrick and Finnegan attended a library program by the Nature Lady while Sully played on the computer and read books.

After dinner, the boys and I cuddled up on the couch (with treats) and watched Despicable Me.

Fun with Friends Friday
This morning we went to Emma's house and created art with paints and clay.
After the artwork, we were joined by the 3 Callow Boys
to play in the playground and go to lunch.
In the afternoon, the boys played golf with PopPop
We stayed at Nannie and PopPop's house for Pizza and a Clone Wars Movie.

Saturday
This morning we picked up Mom and Dad and headed to
the Schiele Museum for the Battle of The Bots
The boys battled each other with hexbugs before going to see the pro's
In the small arena, robots under 3lbs battled in the plexi-glass cube.
The boys stood up front and watched over 10 robot  battles.
Then, we went to an exhibit where 2 teams of high-school robotics groups showed their creations.  Both teams built robots the were designed to throw frisbees.
Patrick and Finnegan were given the opportunity to work the robots
Patrick and Sully loaded the frisbees into the robot
Finn and Patrick worked the controls
and, in this picture, Finn launched the frisbee while Patrick caught it.
After, we went to the large arena to watch the big robots play hockey!
it was 3 on 3 hockey, with a puck and everything-
the kids got to get up close the bots and really enjoyed the game.
In the evening, we went to dinner and a movie with friends.
It's been a busy week - and next week will be even more action-packed.
So much fun!

Summer Fun Week 4

Make It Monday
We had two great projects today.
The boys made some very special get-well cards for Doug and Grandma Peg.
Next, we made lava lamps from a kit given to the boys on their birthday.

Take A Trip Tuesday
Today we drove up to Huntersville to visit Discovery Place Kids.  It was so busy when we first arrived, that we left for a couple hours and went shopping for school shoes, and then went back to the museum. When we got back, things had quieted down significantly and we enjoyed a fun afternoon.

 Wet and Wild Wednesday
Today was wet and it was wild but not the way I had planned.
The rain squashed our swimming plans so we got hair cuts and met friends for lunch.
We then had some "wild games" of uno attack...
and got ready for the 4th of July.

We ended with a wild night - a campout in Patrick and Finnegan's room!
All of the boys brought their sleeping bags, we popped the tents, grabbed lots of flashlights, and the boys began their hours of non-sleep silliness.

Thursday, July 4th
Patrick and Finnegan's 6th Birthday
After birthday breakfast,
we put on our red, white and blue and met our friends at the Waxhaw Parade
Our wagon was decked out, as were the boys.
And, we brought snacks and goodies for all the kids.

Patriotic Friends

After the parade, we hit the pool....
and then Nannie and Pop Pop came over for a cookout, cake and Wii Bowling!
We ended the special day with fireworks.
The boys were in their PJs and we drove around the area and found fantastic light shows.
Happy Birthday Patrick, Finnegan and America!

Fun with Friends Friday
We spent the morning swimming with Drew and Evan today.
Love those handsome boys and all their muscles!!
