Flashback Friday

This past weekend I took the boys for school supplies.

Armed with their lists, the boys were quick to find everything they needed for first grade.

Summer Fun Week 9

Make it Monday

We spent Monday morning swimming with Kara and the girls.

I love this video, at the end you can see Sully, 

my brave brave little man, coming down the slide.

In the afternoon we made birthday cards for PopPop

 Patrick emphasized PopPop's age in his card, and Finn made a Turbo Snail...

 and on the back he made all kids of creatures that live in the Amazon.

Take A Trip Tuesday

We took a trip uptown to Imaginon for the a performance from the Great Fettucini.

Sully gave a puppet show before we got into the theater.

Wet and Wild Wednesday

This morning Patrick wanted to have "Scooter Stunt Training" at the park.  The big guys raced around the park on the scooters faster than I would have liked, but it was really impressive how many tricks that have taught themselves.  While Patrick and Finn were scooting, Sully and I made 3 giant hopscotch boards and have a fun time playing.

 

The afternoon was very wet, we played and swam for hours with Drew and Evan.

Thursday

In the morning we went to Squirrel Lake Park.  We played on the playground and threw a lot of rocks into the pond.

 

In the afternoon, we had a special treat.  The boys went to Emily & Bridget's house (with flowers and sweets) for a special movie afternoon with Andrew.

That's right, Andrew played games, made homemade ice cream and watched Swiss Family Robinson with the five kids, while Kara and I had some girl time.  What a treat for everyone!

Fun with Friends Friday

This morning's playgroup was so much fun!  We all went to Amy's house for a special morning.  Not only did she have special water activities set up outside, but my friends surprised me with a birthday celebration!  What a treat and a wonderful way to spend the day.

Weekend Family Fun

Saturday morning, Gill took the boys to Lowes where the kids built planes from the new Planes Movie.

 In the evening, Gill and I went out for a birthday dinner with Rebecca and Charlie.

We spent Sunday afternoon lounging by the pool. 

First Grade Learning

Summer Fun Week 8

This week we got back into the swing of things, as I have started to feel better.

Make it Monday

In the morning we swam with Bridget and Emily.

In the afternoon, we went "old school" 

and the boys and I spent hours making Shrinky Dinks!

They designed their own and came up with some great creations.

Take a Trip Tuesday

After a follow-up trip to the doctor for me, we headed to the Carolina Raptor Center.

The boys have had several learning experiences at our local library with the Raptor group, and it was great to finally get up to the center and see all the birds for ourselves.

We spent over an hour walking the trails and seeing all the raptors. 

 Their favorites were the eagles, owls and vultures.

 At the Owl Art Center they created their own raptors

 We ended our visit with a picnic and some silly pictures.

 Wet and Wild Wednesday

The pouring rain prevented us from any swim today.  

Instead, we had a wild day building a new hotwheels track and racing the cars all afternoon.

 

Think About It Thursday

The morning was spent working on P&F's summer math work.

They each created a number book out of pictures found in magazines.

 It took a lot of time but they worked hard and had great finished products - 

I know their new teachers will be impressed!

 In the afternoon we went to the library.  All 3 boys have been enrolled in the summer reading program.  They each reached 10 hours of reading and were able to claim their prizes.

 

Fun with Friends Friday

We met our friends at Cane Creek Park.  The kids spent hours wading in the shallow water and building in the sand.  When half of our friends left after 2 hours of play, we decided to stay with Meredith and the boys, as they were all still having fun.  The boys dug, scooped and dumped to their hearts content.   We spent a total of 4 hours at the lake.  I have promised them we will go back again before school starts, because it was such a great day.

 

Weekend Family Fun

Gill took the boys to Home Depot on Saturday for a builders workshop.

On Sunday, we celebrated my birthday.

We went to church with Mom and Dad and then all went out to brunch.

In the afternoon we went over to mom and dad's house to swim at the pool.

It was a great birthday!
