Today we headed up to the mountains to go apple picking.
We went earlier in the season than usual, and it made all the difference. It was a beautiful day with minimal crowds - and no lines for the apple cider donuts!
There was a big difference between this year and years past. Mainly, the boys did not need our help. Instead of asking us to help them reach high branches, all our boys just climbed the trees - up high!!
Patrick even took quite a fall out of a tree, hitting a lot of branches on his way down, but climbed right back up and got more juicy red apples!
When we were done gathering our apples, the threesome had picked over 55 pounds!!
On our way home we stopped in our favorite mountain town, Saluda. We had a delicious dinner at a quaint restaurant and then found something exciting - The Saluda Gem Mine! The boys panned for gems and found lots of treasures to take home with us.
