Summer Fun Week 2

This week was filled with some MAJOR road trips - so fun!

Make it (Movie) Monday
We used Finn's Hot Wheels Car creator to design new cars this morning.
Everyone got a turn and the new rides look awesome!
We also built some transformers and paper ninja turtles
For dinner we made Tacos, just like the TACO-DILES in our movie...
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2!

Take a Trip Tuesday
We were joined by Kara, Bridget and Emily today for an amazing day
in Raleigh at the Museum of Life & Science
The happy kids enjoyed movies on the ride!
Our first stop was the butterfly visit.  With over 100 different kinds flying around us, the kids really enjoyed trying to identify them and even stood still long enough to try and entice a butterfly to land on them!
Our next stop was a train ride around the museum
We explored all 10 dinosaurs and did a fossil dig
In the Insectarium, we saw all kinds of bugs,
including the feeding of the poisonous dart frogs.
The outside experience included the misting gardens...
and sail boats.  Each kid was able to steer the boat and control the sails.
In the aerospace exhibit the kids played inside a lunar module and pretended to be ground control!
At the end of our visit, the kids were able to participate
in the laboratory and made some "goo" to take home.

Wet and Wild Wednesday
This morning the boys and I headed to Latta Sprayground.
The huge water area was so much fun!  The kids played there for over an hour and a half, before heading the the playground and having a picnic lunch.

Think About It Thursday
We spent the day with the Poole Girls.  Our first stop was the library.  The kids played on the computers and found A LOT of books together.
Before we left, the boys got their first prizes for the Summer Reading Program!
After the library, we went to the sprayground for lunch and playtime.
Even some rain didn't stop the kids from having a blast in the water!

Fun with Friends Friday
We went with Jenny, Charlotte and Nathan to the Reed Gold Mine.
The kids were so excited to hunt for gold!
First we went into the mine, it was chilly but so much fun!
We saw the machines used to break down large rocks (Stamping Machines)
Finally, we got our own shot at gold, the boys and I panned for gold!
It was not easy work, and unfortunately, we didn't find any gold.
Luckily, we found some awesome Fool's Gold at the gift shop, and that made everyone happy!
Such a fun adventure and a perfect end to the week!
