Summer is in full swing with our first full week of summer vacation. We didn't hesitate and jumped right into our summer schedule! I'm so thrilled to have all the boys home and spending our time exploring and playing together.
Make it (Movie) Monday
Today's theme was dinosaurs. We first dug for fossilized dinosaur bones. Using Discovery Kids kits, we used tools to excavate TRex Bones and then built the 2 dinosaurs.
P&F hard at work
Sully & Mommy's finished dino
After dinos, we went to the library to their "Kick off Summer Reading" event
and after dinner it was time for the main event - Jurassic Park 3
The boys brought down all their dinos (including the skeletons we had assembled earlier in the day) and we enjoyed the scary movie together
(Sully was more interested in his toy dinosaurs,
but that's ok, we all had a great DINO DAY!)
Take a Trip Tuesday
We headed to South Carolina to the Schiele Museum today. They had a great Planet exhibit. We each did the scavenger hunt throughout the exhibit and answered all the space questions correctly and earned a prize at the end. The highlight of the exhibit may have been the interactive lunar module!
After, we went to the Planetarium to learn more about space
Then, we explored the rest of the museum, including the TRex,
and Patrick's favorite part, a look into the Earth's core
Wet and Wild Wednesday
This afternoon we celebrated Nathan's 5th Birthday with a pool party
Sully loved swimming with Ashton, Nathan and Eli,
while the big guys had a blast with Romie
Think about it Thursday
This morning the boys helped me around the outside of the house. We set up the sprinkler, played in the water, and they helped cleaned the front porch, deck and protect mommy from all those pesky spider webs. I love my helpers!!
In the afternoon, we went to the library for a special Discovery Place presentation about Chemical Reactions. The boys loved making slime, learning about chemical changes and had a BLAST with the science experiments (except for when the light up a hydrogen balloon and the sound resonated through the library)
Fun with Friends Friday
Today should really be called Fun with Girlfriends Friday!
In the morning, we met the Poole Girls at the YMCA for hours of swimming
In the afternoon, we went to the indoor playground with our new neighborhood friends, the Felty's (they also have 3 girls and all 6 kids get along so well)
All six kids in 2 trampolines
Sully swinging while the rest of the crew is in the trampoline plotting
Finn, Patrick and Cameron
What a week! Such a fabulous way to kick off the summer!
