Summer Fun Week 3

Make it Movie Monday
Today, we spent the morning at the pool and  created in the kitchen in the afternoon.
The boys made delicious meatballs.
I put out all the ingredients for them, but the 3 prepared them all by themselves.
A delicious Dinner of Spaghetti and Meatballs and Meatball Subs
After dinner, we invited our neighborhood friends over
to watch Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs!

Take a Trip (and a Dip) Tuesday
In the morning we met the boys buddy, Finn, at the spray ground.
They, played, snacked and played some more!
In the afternoon we headed to the Reed Gold Mine with the Callow crew.  The boys loved our outing last year and have been begging to go again.  It did not disappoint.  We explored the caves…
 checked out the mine carts….
and panned for gold!  This year P&F were old enough to hold their old pans, so we got three pans for the 4 of us.
Low and behold, Sully found gold!!!

Wet and Wild Wednesday
We were invited to P&F's friend, Ryan, to swim in his pool all afternoon.
The boys did crazy jumps, dives and games in the water
and Finny really enjoyed playing with Ryan's sweet little brother Nick.

Think about it Thursday
We went uptown with the White Family today to the Mint Museum.
They have an excellent family room that truly lets the kids design, create and use their imagination.  Jenny and I were thrilled that we had the entire room to ourselves for hours!
The kids used magnetic blocks, created in the kitchen...
and made all kinds of masterpieces.
After 2 hours in the room, Jenny and i wrangled the crew up to go have a picnic.
They did not want to leave, but I promised the boys we'd be back.
We had a sweet picnic in the park across from the museum
and the kids played around the spray ground but decided not to get wet.
After we said "goodbye" to our friends, the boys begged me to go back.  So we did.  This time, instead of going to the family room, we took children's scavenger hunt forms and actually explored all the galleries.  We hunted for primary, secondary and trickery colors.  There were rooms with oil paintings, glass sculptures and abstract art.  I was really proud of how well behaved the boys were in the galleries and how truly interested they were in the art.

On our way home, we stopped to pick up some supplies and then Finnegan and I worked in the kitchen to prepare for the holiday weekend.  He made these delicious white chocolate pretzels all by himself and did a great job!

Fun with Friends Friday
Today Gill took the day off of work and we got ready for a bbq.  We invited some neighborhood families over to celebrate the 4th and the boys birthday.
 Finnegan's delicious snacks
outside bar
 Fun goodies for the kiddos
special drinks for everyone
Dinner is served!

We were all outside - 8 adults and 11 kids, when the skies opened up and it began to pour!
So, while the kids did get a hour of outside play in before, we all ended up inside to eat dinner.
We fit all the kiddos at the kitchen table.  They ate dinner and then we sang "Happy Birthday" to the boys.
No one seemed to mind the change of plans.  After dinner, all the kids went upstairs to play while we got to spend time with the adults.

All in all, a little rain didn't stop up from enjoying a nice night with new friends.
