Fourth of July!!
Today we celebrated Our Sweet Boys' 8th Birthday
Finnegan and Patrick requested that we start the day with breakfast in bed for them at 8am (because they were now 8 years old) and that's just what we did. Sully woke up extra early and helped us prepare the food and deliver it to his big brothers' bunk beds.
Early afternoon, we went over to Nannie and PopPop's house
While Nannie was busy at home preparing delicious desserts, we went to the pool with PopPop. We spent the entire time in the deep end doing flips, cannon balls and going down the slide.
Pierre met us at the pool parking lot and gave all the boys a cruise
around the neighborhood in his convertible.
After we went back to Nannie's and freshened up,
we drove up the street to The Langevin's house for a BBQ.
After the delicious dinner, we rode with Danielle on Christine's Golf Cart
back to Nannie and Pop Pop's house
At Mom's house, we enjoyed a delicious spread of desserts...
and sang Happy Birthday to Finnegan and Patrick.
After dessert, we went upstairs to the porch and watched the beautiful fireworks that Pierre and Gill set off on the golf course. The view was perfect and the display was magical. It was a fantastic way to celebrate the special day.
Make it Movie Monday
This morning we spent hours building robots and in the evening watched the movie WALL-E.
Each boy had their own kit that we assembled.
These kits were no-nonsense - we had to build electrical circuits, attach motors, etc.
We were certainly challenged with these projects, but thrilled when all 3 worked!
Sully's Cleaning Robot
Patrick's Water Pump
Finnegan's Robotic Beetle
Take A Trip Tuesday
Today we drove with Jenny, Charlotte and Nathan to Columbia, South Carolina
to one of our favorite children's museum - Edventure
The kids had a blast in their new exhibit based on Mr. Potato Head.
All the kiddos building potato heads
Finn manning the submarine
Sully and Finnegan are captains
Patrick pretends to scuba dive
After Potato Head, we created in the imagination creation
and then to the grocery store and farm
We learned about fire safety at the quiz show
When we all went to the butterfly pavilion we had the greatest experience.
Each one of our kids was able to attract a butterfly to land on them
(no catching the butterflies, just being patient and letting them land)
It was truly magical!
Such a fantastic outing with friends!
Wet and Wild Wednesday
This afternoon we went to the pool with Drew and Evan.
These dudes had a blast swimming, spraying, sliding and eating popsicles
Think About it Thursday
This morning Patrick went to his friend Jack's house to play and Finnegan had his buddy Finn over.
While big brother played in the house, Sully and I planted all the beautiful flowers that Pop Pop gave us.
Finn and Finnegan enjoyed coloring together - they are both great artists!
After the playdates were over, we met Daddy for lunch and then headed to the library.
Patrick helped Sully pick out his books, and even read to him.
In the evening, the boys went to Nannie and PopPop's house
so I could do a special 4 mile trail run at the WhiteWater Center with Melissa
Fun with Friends Friday
We found a new playground in Indian Trail and decided to check it out with Meredith and the boys.
The park had a zip line and it was a huge hit with the boys
as was the giant swing!
We played for a couple hours, and enjoyed a picnic lunch before it became too hot to handle. Thankfully the park was well shaded, but by noon, it was 100 degrees and time to go!
The boys and I went to Costco on our way home and after shopping, they enjoyed some sweet treats - including P&F's creation of churros dipped in vanilla fro-yo. YUMMY!
