Finnegan's Words of Wisdom

Monday Morning
Mommy:  Good Morning Boys!
Finnegan:  Mommy, you need pants and a haircut!

Tuesday Morning
Mommy:  Good Morning Boys!  What would you like to do today?
Finnegan:  I'm gonna not listen to you

Both mornings, Finnegan was honest and true to his word.
I can't wait to hear what he'll say this morning!!

A Day of Discovery

Today, I took all my boys to Discovery Place for a morning of fun.  It turned out to be a morning of discovery for all of us:

I discovered that there is no need to wear the aprons while playing at the water table, the kids get soaked anyway.

Finnegan discovered the ins and outs of getting all the boats to move on the water table while Patrick built and raced cars down the ramp.

The boys played at the big "Lite Brite" wall and I discovered that everything is more fun when it's life-size.

I discovered that the sound of pots and pans banging is not nearly as annoying when they aren't being played in my home, actually, I think Patrick really rocked!

I discovered the content of Patrick's backpack (or "jetpack", as he calls it) and was not at all surprised to see who was right at the top!

I discovered that we eat out at Discovery Place far too often when Finnegan dismissed the lunch I packed and asked to "order".

Finnegan, Patrick, Sully and I all discovered that we can explore new things together, and while it may be a bit more hectic, it sure is lots of fun!

Yankees Schmankees

Today our family went to cheer on our favorite T-Ball Player, Preston!

Patrick and Finnegan were so excited to watch him play.  Pitty Pat sat right next to me and cheered & clapped for Preston, while Finny tried to find a gap in the fence so he could play, too!

Preston played so well and we were all very proud of him!

My only complaint:  where were the hot dogs and cracker jacks?
Apple juice and peanut butter crackers just don't cut it.

Flashback Friday

I put Sullivan in his bumbo seat for the first time this week.
He looked so little in it, but was clearly enjoying himself!

Here's a look back on Finnegan and Patrick's first time as well
(they were 3 weeks older than Sully is.)

A Stroll on the Greenway

We met up with Jen, Aidan and Ella for a nature walk through the Greenway.

Patrick and Finnegan loved exploring the trail with their friends.

The kids stopped every few seconds to explore something new; a stick, a rock, a stream or a biker passing by.  Everything was fascinating to them and I loved watching them explore.

The highlight of our adventure was an hour long visit to a tree stump - that's right, a tree stump!  The kids found sticks (which they used as batons), they raced their cars and trucks on top of the stump and took turns standing on top of the stump.

As Jen and I watched them explore, we realized that with all the toys the kids have, they had a better time and adventure in the outdoors than they will ever have in a playroom!

After 1.5 hours, we managed to walk .5 mile (roundtrip), I wonder if there is a record for the slowest pace ever traveled?!?

Stalker

It appears that Patrick and Finnegan have acquired a stalker.  No matter where we go, there he is.  He shows up in the most unusual places; the bathtub, the bed, the dinner table and even church.  It seems that no matter what I do, I can't seem to shake this pesky stalker.

His name is Lightning McQueen, and he has followed my sons around for months.  It started out innocent enough, our friends recommended a movie the boys might enjoy.  Low and behold, they were right!  Patrick and Finnegan barely moved for an hour and a half while the watched McQueen race across the screen.  Soon, the boys started to request to see McQueen more often and I still didn't see the problem.  Now, however, it appears as though Mr. McQueen has become a fixture in our family.

He is the first thing the boys ask for when they wake up in the morning and the last thing they kiss goodnight when they go to sleep.  (No, I'm not holding a grudge because it used to be me).  No matter how I try, we can't seem to leave the house without Lightning.

And, if that wasn't bad enough, Mr. McQueen has decided to infiltrate Patrick and Finnegan's vocabulary as well:

Mom:  Patrick what would you like for Breakfast?
Patrick:  I eat LOSERS for breakfast, Mommy

(Mommy starts the car....)
Finnegan:  Focus Mommy, you are SPEED.

Lightning, I know that you are a very nice fellow and I appreciate your strong relationship with my sons, but can we have a little private family time?  Can I take the boys for icecream without having to order some for you, too?  Or maybe, just maybe, when I host a special holiday playgroup, you can wait and see if you get an invitation before you show up?  Is that too much to ask?

Oh, his goes for all your friends, too - Mr. The King, Mator, Doc, Sherrif and Chic Hick - my boys' hands aren't big enough to hold you all at once, but they keep giving it their best effort!

Happy Spring!

Yesterday we spent a glorious day outdoors enjoying the first day of spring.

We started off at the Nature Museum for a special morning dedicated to bunnies.
The boys were none too impressed once they realized that the bunnies would not jump when asked.
However, the Weltz Girls gave the bunnies lots of attention!

After the bunnies, we all walked to Freedom Park.  The kids played on the playground and then our families gathered for a picnic lunch.

While I had packed lunches for the boys, apparently Aunt Sara's food was much more appealing.  We were thrilled that all 7 children sat so nicely and ate their lunch.

After lunch, the kids did all sorts of activities; running, swinging, trying to climb trees, etc.

Patrick set out on a mission to prove that chivalry is not dead - and he succeeded!

Sullivan cuddled up with Godmamma Sara and enjoyed watching all the children.

I got the first of many great pictures of all my men!

Finnegan discovered what it would be like to be taller than Daddy!

And Patrick enjoyed a leasurely ride back to the car while cuddled up with Ginny.

It was a wonderful day - Happy Spring!

Happy St. Finnegan, Patrick, and Sullivan's Day!

Our friends came over to celebrate St. Patrick's Day with us today.

Patrick waited patiently by the door for everyone to arrive

Sully loved being held by all the moms

Finn played trains with the ladies!

We gathered all the kids at the table for cupcakes and everyone ate them rather neatly,
with the exception of one...

'cause Finny eats like his Momma!!

Preston, Patrick, Isabella, Ginny, Aidan, Ella, Finn and Lizzy

This little sign was on Sully's tush!

We hope you're St. Patrick's Day was as fun as ours was!

St. Patrick's Day Parade

On Saturday we took our Little Irishmen to the St. Patrick's Day Parade.

The boys were all dressed in their festive gear.

Before we could go to the parade, Gill had to stop by a clients, so I took all 3 boys to the Nature Museum for some exploration.

They took wood and made tunnels for Lightning McQueen...

and became giant insects!

Then, it was off the the parade!

Patrick was not impressed, and Finn's highlight was getting a lollipop.

We visited with a bagpiper...

but when we left Patrick said "We go to the Parade now, Mommy?"
When I told him we were just at the parade he asked,
"But where are the giraffes and elephants?"
Obviously we did not meet his expectations.
