Bird is the Word

On Tuesday I took the boys to the Dentist for the first time. Dr. Bird, our dentist, was referred to us by Dr. Sullivan, our pediatrician - they are sisters so I knew right away we would be in good hands.

The entire practice had a "bird" theme, with bright colors, birds nests and even bird-themed shows playing on the flat-screen tvs throughout the practice - it was adorable!

Knowing that Patrick was a little apprehensive, Finnegan volunteered to go first. He put on Spiderman Sunglasses, chose Strawberry toothpaste and put his head back for his cleaning.

He did not flinch, even smiling and giggling at times.

Later, Finn said his favorite part was "Mr. Thirsty, the straw".

Patrick felt much better after watching his brother, he hopped right in the chair...

and proceeded to discuss every tool with the dental hygienist.

He too, was totally relaxed during the cleaning.

After all the pearly whites were sparkling, Patrick and Finnegan got their xrays taken.  What was my favorite part? Not the fact that P&F performed perfectly and held totally still when told to - nope, it was the Dentist Barbie displayed on the wall!

Finally, we met with Dr. Bird. She told the boys how well they were doing keeping their teeth clean -no cavities - and to keep up the great work!

We left the office with bags filled with goodies; tooth brushes, car magnets, tee shirts, floss, Spiderman stickers, toothpaste and bouncy balls.


When it comes to a fun trip to the dentist, Bird is the Word!
